Read Psalms 38-39
Head
"Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is." — Psalm 39:4
In today’s reading of Psalms 38-39, we see David at two very different times. In Chapter 38, he has admitted to God that he’s done something wrong, and he’s begging for mercy. In Chapter 39, in an effort to keep from more wrongdoing, David vowed to hold his tongue and to be slow to speak.
Have you ever tried to keep quiet when you really wanted to say something? It’s SO hard! David felt the same way, so he did the best thing he knew. He turned to God. David asked God to help him focus on what really matters. Sometimes, we get so busy with things like school, games, toys, friends, or worrying about small stuff that we forget what’s most important: loving God and sharing His love with others.
Heart
Have you ever tried to catch a bubble? You reach out and POP! It’s gone. Psalm 39 reminds us that our lives are like that bubble—they don’t last forever. But that doesn’t mean life isn’t important. God gave us our time here to love Him, help others, and make good choices.
Hands
Think about how you can use today to do something meaningful. Maybe it’s being kind to a friend, helping your family, or saying a prayer for someone. When we live for God, we should strive to make every word and every moment count!
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for giving me life and time to love You and others. Help me focus on what really matters and use my time to do good things. Show me how to live in a way that makes You happy. Amen.
