09 | Romans 1:18-3:20

Key Words:

Scripture

Primary Text:

Romans 1:18-3:20

Supplemental Text:

Acts 3:19, Romans 3:21-24

Observation & Application

Read Romans 1:18. According to this verse, how is the truth suppressed? How has this occurred in your own life?

Read Romans 1:19-20. What do these verses suggest about God's attributes and the evidence of His existence? How have you witnessed this in your life and in the world around you?

Read Romans 1:21-23. This verse tells us that sometimes we worship idols instead of the Almighty God. We can fight darkness and idolatry by giving God the glory and showing Him our gratitude. What are you grateful for today? What can you glorify God for today?

Read Romans 1:24-32. How does Paul describe the consequences of idolatry and immorality?

Which of the sins in verses 29-32 seem the most prevalent in culture and in your circle of influence? Now read Romans 2:1-11. What is the thing YOU most need to repent of?

Read Romans 3:9-20. No one – no matter their background or good works - is righteous. When did you come to realize the truth of Romans 3:9-20 in your life?

Now read Romans 3:21-26. All are guilty and deserving of punishment, but no one is left without hope. We can be justified (made right) by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. How does Paul’s message of righteousness, justification, and grace in Romans 3:21-26 give you hope and redemption in light of what we’ve read in the first few chapters of Romans?

Prayer

Make a list of what you are thankful for. Then pray and thank God.

Don’t despise the richness of God’s kindness, restraint, and patience by clinging to your sin and judging others. Instead, accept His grace and turn from your sin. Make a list of the sin in your life and then pray and ask God to help you turn from your sin and to Him.
