Read Matthew 9:35-38

Head

In today’s scripture, we read that Jesus went all over the cities and villages spreading the Gospel. He healed people while He was on His journey as well! Verse 36 tells us that when Jesus saw the crowds of people, He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  He had compassion for them because they didn’t know God. Jesus tells the disciples that “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” meaning that there are many people who need to hear the Gospel, but if the laborers didn’t tell others about Jesus, the harvest would be wasted.

Heart

Have you ever seen sheep without a shepherd? What happens? The sheep get lost! They wander around and easily become prey for other animals. This is what happens with people who don’t know THE Shepherd! They are lost and wandering around aimlessly. When the enemy attacks, they’re left defenseless. As believers, it’s our job to be a laborer for the harvest! We need to tell others about Jesus so they can become laborers, too. The more people we reach for the Gospel, the greater harvest we’re reaping for the Kingdom.

Hands

As a family, think of a way you can be a laborer for the harvest this week. Invite a non-believing family over for dinner so you can share the Gospel, or make an effort to tell someone you encounter about Jesus.

Prayer: God, thank You for being our Shepherd. Thank You for being so compassionate towards us so we don’t have to wander around lost. We love You! Amen.
