Read Psalms 115-116

Head

Today, our reading comes from Psalms 115-116. In these passages, we see that God is real, powerful, and caring. The passage explains that people sometimes trust things that can't actually help them—like objects or idols that can't see, hear, or talk- but God is different. He watches over His people, helps them, and blesses them. Psalm 115 encourages everyone to trust God because He is strong and always there for us.

Then, in Psalm 116, it appears that someone is telling a rescue story. The writer was scared, hurting, or in big trouble, and they prayed to God for help. God heard his prayers and saved him. Because of that, the writer is filled with thankfulness and wants to keep following God. The psalm reminds us that God listens when we pray and helps us when we're in need, and that we should thank Him for His love and care.

Heart

Have you ever had a moment when you were scared and didn't know what to do — the kind that makes your heart beat fast and your stomach feel tight? These Psalms remind us that in those moments, God hears every cry for help. He isn't far away or fictional; He's close, strong, and ready to help. Remembering that can help us face challenges with confidence instead of fear. And just like the writer of Psalm 116, we can respond to God's help with gratitude — thanking Him, trusting Him more, and choosing to follow His ways. We can also show His love by helping others who feel scared or stuck, reminding them through our actions that God cares for them, too. Each day becomes a chance to trust God, stay faithful, and shine His kindness to the people around us.

Hands

With your family, discuss how you can trust God today.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being real and powerful, and for hearing me every time I call out to You. Thank You for helping me when I'm scared and giving me strength when I feel weak. Please help me trust You with each step I take, live with gratitude, and show Your love to others who need it. Stay close to me and guide my heart each day. Amen.
