Read Psalms 113-114
Head
Imagine you're standing outside on a clear night, staring up at the sky. The stars look huge… and you feel small. Now imagine someone whispering, "The God who made all of that knows your name." That's the message of Psalm 113. It paints this incredible picture of God. He is the one who rules over everything — higher than the sun, higher than the sky — yet He kneels down to lift up people who feel unnoticed, unimportant, or left behind. He brings joy into places that feel lonely.
Then in Psalm 114, the story takes a wild turn — almost like a movie scene! The sea runs away, mountains jump like sheep, and rivers stop flowing. Why? Because God was rescuing His people, and all of creation trembled with excitement and fear. Can you even imagine that?!? These two Psalms together tell an amazing story: the God who can shake mountains and split seas is the same God who sees you, lifts you up, and cares about your heart.
Heart
Both of these Psalms remind us that God is both powerful and caring, and that affects the way we live every day. Even when we feel small or unnoticed, God sees us and lifts us up. When challenges seem too big or scary, we can trust that the same God who performed amazing miracles for His people can help us too. Remembering His power and love gives us courage, hope, and confidence to do what is right. Because God cares for the humble and helps those in need, we can reflect His goodness by being kind, generous, and encouraging to others. Noticing both the big and small ways God works in our lives helps us live with joy and shine His light to the people around us.
Hands
Make a list of the big and small things God has done to show His love for us!
Prayer: Dear God, You are amazing and powerful — the One who made the stars, the mountains, and the seas — and yet You care about me. Thank You for seeing me, lifting me up when I feel small, and helping me when things feel too big to handle. Help me trust You every day, be brave in the face of challenges, and show kindness to others, just like You show kindness to me. Teach me to notice both the big and small ways You work in my life, so I can live with hope, joy, and courage, shining Your light wherever I go. Amen.
