Read Psalms 121-122

Head

These chapters are believed to be written by King David. They were written to be sung as God's people traveled to Jerusalem to worship. Travel was very dangerous at this time, and these psalms were meant to help God's people focus on the reason for the journey and on the Father's protection.

Heart

These chapters show that King David recognized the dangers of making the journey to Jerusalem. He wanted to encourage those who believed in God to look to God for His protection on the journey. Even though it is not dangerous for us to come to church, these verses encourage us to make the journey! When we are facing challenges, these chapters remind us that our help comes from God. Are there any songs you sing that remind you God is with you always?

Hands

Take time as a family to talk about people in our world who are still in danger when they meet together to worship and praise God. Talk about people you may meet who do not know Jesus, and you need to invite to church. Think of ways to encourage each other.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for reminding us that you are always with us on our journey. Thank you for King David's example of how to encourage others and to always turn to you for help in all situations. Show us the ways to serve you best in our daily lives. Give us a song that will remind us always of you. Amen
