Read Psalms 123-124
Head
While we are not sure who wrote Psalm 123, King David is recognized as the author of Psalm 124. Psalm 123 continues as a song for the journey. The journey to Jerusalem was called an ascent. This meant making a journey. In Psalm 124, David praises and thanks God for the protection He has given his people.
Heart
These chapters continue to reveal the songs that helped God's people on their journey. They encourage us to look up to heaven to ask God to have mercy on those who are mistreated. David reminds the people of how our God has provided for us and protected us. Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth! Do you hear a song in there?
Hands
Take time as a family to share about ways that God has provided for you. Remind each other to look to our God and to thank him for all He has done. Continue to remember the millions of people in our world who risk everything to follow Him. Share ways you can help others with each other.
Prayer: Pray today with your eyes open and your gaze up! Thank you, God, for reminding us that you are always with us on our journey. Thank you for allowing us the freedom to worship and follow you. We pray for those who are persecuted for their faith. Bring them the comfort that only you can give. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
