Read Galatians 1:10-17

Head

In Galatians 1:10, Paul asks a simple question, “Am I now trying to get people to think well of me? Or do I want God to think well of me?” That’s a powerful question. Paul strived to please and serve God. Paul, once named Saul, was a bad man who hurt lots of people. In verse 15, he says God showed him grace and wanted him to tell others about Jesus. A lot of people hurt Paul the way that Paul hurt others before he had a relationship with Jesus. Paul was not concerned if other people liked him. Paul thought it was most important to tell them the truth about the Lord.

Heart

So let me ask you a question. Are you trying to make God happy or make people happy? The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outside of a person. But the Lord looks at what is in the heart.” God wants us to love Him and love others the way that He loves. Our clothes, our cell phones, if we made the basketball team - those are all important things to us, but our biggest concern should be that we are pleasing God with our words and our actions.

Hands

Consider what is important to you. What is one thing you can do this week that helps you focus on pleasing God instead of the boys and girls at school?

Prayer: Lord, I like my phone, my clothes, and other fun things, but help me to make You the most important in my life. Amen.
