Read Galatians 5:22-26

Head

If you were given the job of growing the biggest, best apple tree (that produced the most apples, that were all delicious, juicy, and perfectly sweet), how would you do that? I bet you would make sure the soil was perfect, the sun shined just right on the tree, and the tree received the perfect amount of water every day. You would probably trim away any dead leaves or branches, and you would care for it as it grew and produced apples. When you give an apple tree the things it needs, it grows fruit. In the same way, when we are abiding in Jesus (spending time with Him), He gives us the gift of fruit to grow in our lives. These aren’t real fruits; they are things about us that we begin to do because we have a relationship with Jesus, and we allow Him to change us. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” When we show these things in our lives, it means that we are abiding in Jesus and He is working in our lives.  

Heart 

Read John 15:5-8. Here, we are again reminded that we can’t do things on our own. In order to grow the good fruit in our lives, we must turn to Jesus! We must spend time with Jesus, read our Bibles, pray to Him daily, and ask our family or KXP leaders when we have questions about what we are learning. The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we act and talk like Him- with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control! 

Hands 

God wants you to share the fruits of the Spirit with your friends and show them how much He loves them. Do that this week by inviting a friend to KXP with you this Sunday. 

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for creating us to do good things. Thank You for changing us to be more like You. Help me to abide in You and to share Your fruits with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
