Read Psalms 127-128

Head
In chapter 127, Solomon shares that anything we do without God will not be successful. He uses the example of building a house and working to eat. Each of these will fail without God's provision and protection. He shares that children are a blessing from God. As Psalm 128 continues (we are not sure who wrote it), we are reminded about the blessing children are for the man who fears the Lord. This was written as songs for those returning to Jerusalem from Babylon.

Heart
These chapters remind us of the importance of following God and leaning on Him. Solomon compares children to the arrows in a quiver. Arrows were very important to men and were used to protect them. Children are also very important, and they have the responsibility to follow their father's teachings. Can you think of a time when you showed respect to your parents?

Hands
Make a list of ways you can serve each other. This list can include ways you represent your parents when you are not with them. Do you remember the song, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands? Sing that song as you think about who you need to serve.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for holding us in Your loving hands. Thank you for Solomon's wisdom, which reminds us to always turn to You before we begin every task. Thank you for the gift of children. Lead us to be the right examples and for our children to follow. In the name of the Father, Amen.
