Read Luke 10:38-42

Head

In this scripture, we see two sisters waiting for Jesus to visit. Mary and Martha are excited to have Jesus in their home but the two of them act very differently. Martha is busy preparing food and taking care of things for Jesus’s visit while Mary is very focused while sitting at Jesus’ feet listening to His stories and learning.

When Martha tells Jesus she is frustrated with Mary for not helping her, He tells her that it’s okay to stop what you’re doing and to just sit with Him and listen. He shows love to both of them. He thanks Mary for setting aside her busy chores and taking time to give to Him.

Heart

Sometimes we get distracted with doing things when maybe we need to just stop what we’re doing and sit with our family. There are a few things more important than sitting down and connecting with those people that you love. Find time during the week that you all can sit down as a family and prioritize connecting with each other.

Hands

Prayer: Dear God, we are so thankful that You gave us the story of Mary and Martha to show us how valuable it is to spend time together and most of all with You! Help direct our steps this week so that we can be more intentional with connecting with the people that we love rather than being too busy to notice those opportunities. Amen.
