Head: Know God's Word | Heart: Love God | Hands: Follow God's Way
Read 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
Head
Today’s passage is part of a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Corinth. He begins by encouraging his readers to think of people who follow Jesus as brand-new creatures. Paul also reminds them that they have a message to share, and it’s the best message ever: God is reconciling the world to Himself through Christ. What does reconcile mean? Reconcile means that because of Jesus, we can have a relationship with God which saves us and changes us to be more like Him. He makes us brand new!
Heart
Paul also says that God is calling believers to join Him by being Jesus’ ambassadors. If you are a follower of Christ, then you are His ambassador as well. What exactly does it mean to be an ambassador? In the time in which Paul wrote, an ambassador would’ve been someone whose job was to represent a king.
How does it feel to know that you are an official ambassador of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ? How does that change the way you live?
No matter how many changes we need to make to be more like Jesus and better ambassadors for Him, it should cause us all to pause and ask if we are looking for ways to share the wonderful message we’ve been given.
Hands
As a family, talk through some ways that you can represent Christ every day as His ambassador. If you need help to start this discussion, think of ways that someone in your life has shared truth or represented Christ to you, and share those examples with your family.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, what a privilege it is to share Your Truth with others. You made a way for us to come to You through Christ, and we are so thankful. As we go about our days, may we be good ambassadors for You. May our actions and words point others to the One True King, so that we might see our friends and family come to know You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
